Sail Training International is the organizer of The Tall Ships Races and is a charity foundation from England, that works closely with The Tall Ships Races Harlingen 2018 for edition 2018.
Sail Training International is a registered non-profit charity organization. A training and internship experience on a Tall Ship is internationally regarded as an effective method for introducing young people from the ages 15 to 25 with norms and values, developing team spirit, finding a physical challenge and, above all, learning about themselves. Sail Training International is the world’s leading organizer of sailing races and events and sail training related conferences and seminars. Sail Training International is run by national members. In the Netherlands, Sail Training Association Netherlands (STAN) is based in Oostvoorne, chaired by Mr. Reinoud van der Heijden.
The Harlingen Sail Foundation is organizing the Tall Ships Races Harlingen 2018 (TSRH) in close collaboration with and commissioned by the council of Harlingen.
Frisian Tall Ships Club (FTSC) was founded because of the Harlingen Sail Foundation. An informal networking club that connects business, as well as educational institutions and social service associations such as the Lions Club and Rotary Club to the goals and objectives of The Tall Ships Races Harlingen 2018. The board of Harlingen Sail is made up of 7 people. Each member of the board has their own specialization and will direct his / her workgroup. The board operates on a voluntary basis.
Mr. J.R. Arends (chairman)
J.R. Arends looks back on a versatile maritime career as an officer / captain and is currently managing director / owner of JR Shipping BV and SeaZip Offshore Service BV, both located in Harlingen. Arends has been the cradle of several successful nautical events and is particularly active in professional shipping.
Mr. P. Baarsma (Treasurer)
P. Baarsma has been the commercial director of the NDC Media Group since 2015. Before this, Mr. Baarsma was employed by Fentener van Vlissingen and was previously the General Manager at Coca Cola Netherlands. Baarsma has a large network among international companies that may be involved in The Tall Ships Races Harlingen 2018.

Responsible for the communication of the Tall Ships Races 2018.
Mr. S. Smeding (Board member)
Responsible for the overall public and trainee programming of the Tall Ships Races Harlingen 2018.
Mr. G. Nijenhuis (Board member Operational Affairs)
Responsible for contacts with the participating Tall Ships, the related nautical / logistics and the Liaison organization of the Tall Ships Races Harlingen 2018.
